Kimberly Mathurin, M.D. is a board-certified family medicine physician with Blackshear Family Practice – A Division of Coastal Health who is passionate about providing compassionate, comprehensive care while building meaningful relationships with her patients. Dr. Mathurin brings a vibrant personality, diverse background, and deep commitment to community-centered medicine into every patient interaction.

Born on a small Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, Dr. Mathurin was raised on the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. Her multicultural upbringing and passion for connecting with others helped shape her patient-centered approach to medicine and her love for Family Medicine, where every day brings a new opportunity to care for patients across all stages of life.

Dr. Mathurin earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine and also holds a Master of Public Health in Global Health from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She additionally earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Georgia State University. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Memorial Satilla Health through HCA Healthcare in Waycross, Georgia.

During residency, Dr. Mathurin gained extensive experience in dermatology, ophthalmology, surgery, sports medicine, women’s health, pediatrics, geriatrics, and inpatient medicine. She also completed and presented multiple clinical research projects throughout her training.

Before pursuing medicine full-time, Dr. Mathurin worked extensively in environmental and global public health. She served as an Environmental Health Specialist in Georgia and as Country Director for International Medical Corps in Saint Lucia, where she coordinated healthcare initiatives, hospital restoration projects, medical supply logistics, and community outreach programs. She also spent time as a Chemistry and Biology teacher, which remains one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mathurin enjoys visual art, jewelry design, dance, scrapbooking, community outreach, and spending time with her family, whom she describes as her greatest joy. She is also an avid collector of vintage Doctor Barbie dolls and LEGO sets, reflecting her appreciation for creativity, inclusivity, and lifelong learning.
