Dr. Gene Harris is a distinguished provider with a rich educational background and a commitment to his patients at Coastal Health. He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Services (Administration) from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.

Dr. Harris completed his internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, where he also pursued his residency in family practice. He is board-certified in family practice by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice.

Dr. Harris has been actively involved in various medical associations, including being a Diplomate of the National Board of American Osteopathic Medical Examiners and a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.

His career has been marked by a range of experiences and achievements. Dr. Harris served as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Hm2. He has been actively involved in medical education, serving as a preceptor for medical, physician assistant and nursing students at the Suwannee River area Health Education Center/University of Florida in Gainesville. He has held leadership roles such as Interim Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director at the Family Medical and Dental Center in Palatka, Florida. Currently, he continues to make a positive impact as a family physician at Coastal Health serving patients.
